Mastocytosis is a rare disease that occurs in both children and adults. It is characterized by the presence of too many mast cells in connective tissues such as the skin, the lining of the stomach, intestine and other sites. Mast cells play a critical role in the immune system’s response to defend the body against infection and disease. 

What is NPS?

NPS, also known as Expanded Access Programmes (EAP), enables patient access to vital treatments, which are often unavailable in certain regions. Through NPS, Healthcare Professionals are able to prescribe medications in an ethical and legal way, providing patients with the best treatments available.

NPS enables access to treatments in the following circumstances:

WHEN:

  • Medications are still undergoing Clinical Trials
  • Medications have been licensed in one country, but await registration in another
  • There is a special requirement for a medicine awaiting license
  • A licensed medicine is available, but is unsuitable for the patient
  • The Marketing Authorisation Licence has lapsed
  • Supply chain problems exist with a licensed product
